Mistake 2 — You’re looking in the wrong places

Yesterday we looked at some of the characteristics of your ideal customer. An important thing to know about your ideal customer is where to find them. Even if you know who your ideal customer is, you won’t find them if you’re looking in the wrong place.

So where do you find these ideal customers? Spend some time researching these questions:

  • Where do they live?
  • Where do they like to shop?
  • Where do they hang out with their friends?
  • Where are they when they are likely to buy from you? (i.e. are they behind their desk at work or are they at home?)
  • Are they local or are they online?
  • Are they in your suburb or are they all over the world?
  • Which social media platform are they on?
  • What do they read?
  • What do they watch and what do they listen to?
  • Where do they get their information?

Today’s challenge is to identify where to find your ideal customer. Your marketing approach will need to be tailored specifically to where you are likely to find your ideal customer. Answering these questions will help you narrow down exactly how to speak to them more directly and be able to talk to them in the places where they spend the most time
